Protecting residents from the possibility of abuse and neglect in LTC homes is a challenge that requires vigilance among all stakeholders, and in the province of Ontario we welcome an action plan released May 16 that makes recommendations for providers and the ministry to enhance resident security.

Gabriel's Place Celebrates Seasonal Food

A group of Cincinnati residents will be celebrating food that's in season, notably lettuce and asparagus, through a free community event taking place Saturday, May 19 10 a.m. to noon. Dubbed Food Revolution Day, the event aligns with the nonprofit's mission to fulfill the common goal of becoming a sustainable community space in the neighborhood of Avondale. It is looking to create this space through a community garden, hoop house to provide fresh produce year-round, community kitchen and marketplace to encourage economic empowerment, access to whole foods and goods, social interaction and a source of pride. New Bills would Free Returning Citizens to Work

The CoreChange Returning Citizens group is actively advocating for the legislation of two new bills pending before the Ohio General Assembly. House Bill 524 and Senate Bill 337 create a new legal mechanism to "carefully lift certain collateral sanctions for people that can prove their readiness to work and their rehabilitation," according to a recent editorial on the potential change.
