Visionary Social Entrepreneurs to be Recognized at SVN Hall of Fame

Eight new inductees to be honored at November 13 gala

The movement towards socially-responsible business practices continues to gain steam thanks to the groundwork laid by a host of visionary social entrepreneurs who never strayed in their belief that business could be profitable while having a positive impact on the world around it.

Eight of these visionaries will be recognized at the Social Venture Network (SVN) Hall of Fame celebration in New York City Nov. 13 with an SVN Impact Award.

For 25 years, the Social Venture Network SVN has been connecting values-driven entrepreneurs such as these with each other in a web of social innovation.

To mark this anniversary, the SVN Hall of Fame celebration this November in New York City will honor 25 organizations that have had immense impact on the world around them with the impact awards.

The latest round of honorees announced at the beginning of June are: Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, co-founders of Ben & Jerry’s; Cheryl Dorsey, president of Echoing Green; Linda Mason and Roger Brown, co-founders of Bright Horizons Family Solutions; Bill Drayton, founder of Ashoka, and Lynne and Bill Twist, co-founders of Pachamama Alliance.

“The visionary social entrepreneurs created models of social innovation that were very unique at the time of their founding,” says SVN executive director Deb Nelson.

“The focus for this ceremony will be connecting the next generation of social entrepreneurs to the legacy and values of the pioneers of social entrepreneurship.”

The 25 companies to be honored this year were vetted by a panel of 20 judges representing corporate peers, industry experts, business and organizational leaders, and the awards will be presented by past SVN Innovation Award winners — the eager minds of the next generation of social entrepreneurs.
