Event Generates Excitement for Organizational Democracy

WorldBlu LIVE conference inspires, encourages delegates

SAN FRANCISCO — Many WorldBlu LIVE delegates came away from the two-day organizational democracy conference with inspiration, ideas, and personal commitments for when they returned home.

As part of the May 19-20 San Francisco event wrap-up participants were led through a visioning exercise, working in pairs to consider from the perspective of five years in the future what your organization looks like now, what were the challenges and your biggest contribution.

After this exercise, delegates came back together and people shared with the group what it meant to them personally to be part of the two-day event.

Some of the things shared included learning the tools and language to start the journey, finding a community, and a sense of renewed hope.

Participant Dianne Gubin told Axiom News the event left her feeling “honoured and pleased to be part of this movement.”

Gubin said creating positive work environments based on democratic principles where profit is still important but employee happiness is vital is what is needed in the country and in the world.

Gina Brockamp, president at Encore Staffing Solutions in California, said she walked away from the event with hope for her three children who are in their mid-20’s.

“To know that they’ve got choices of these kinds of companies (that are democratic) to work for, I’m so excited for them,” Brockamp said.

She was so inspired by the organizations and people at WorldBlu LIVE she called a friend from the event who had just left his job.

“I talked to him today and said I have some people maybe you can even call, it was exciting for me to do that,” she said.

After attending WorldBlu LIVE, Brockamp says she is going to look into becoming an individual member of the WorldBlu community and consider organizational certification.

“I also want to work with those companies and I want them to call me up and say, ‘hey, I’m going to use Gina’s services she’s a WorldBlu supporter, she’s going to have the same values I do and work together,’” she added.

Many delegates expressed the conference was one of the best they’d been to, with a unique sense of openness in terms of sharing with one another the benefits and challenges to workplace democracy.
