England Bank Backs New Free Schools

The Guardian reports the U.K.'s Barclays bank is offering £1.25M (C $1.9M) to parents hoping to set up free schools. The article reports in addition to this money, which is likely to be awarded in £5,000 grants, the bank is giving free financial advice to academies and free schools as well as offering 3,000 teens up to three weeks of work experience in its branches. A coalition education policy in Britain permits parents, charities and businesses to establish free schools.
